Essential travel gear and booking sites – My top picks
Everyone has their “must haves” when going away on holiday. Here are a few of my favourites for our family for essential travel gear and booking sites that we use.
Camera – Essential travel gear item No 1
THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. PLEASE READ MY DISCLOSURE FOR MORE INFO.
Our phone cameras are great but we just love our Canon Rebel EOS T5i. Our family memories are the most important thing to me and the kids just loving looking back through the photos and videos! I haven’t always been tech savvy and we found this camera perfect for a novice photographer like me!
Kindle – Essential travel gear item No 2
The kids love their All New Fire 7 Kindle and I wouldn’t be without my Fire HD8 Kindle either! When travelling around the countryside, or the world there are only so many paperback books I would want to carry! With a large family, a Kindle or two will save you loads of weight, and the kids just love them! For some reason it even makes the not-so-keen reader want to read! Win Win I say! The features and added bonuses they come with when bought brand new are fantastic.
Portable Chargers – Essential travel gear item No 3
As much we love to “unplug” from the world every now and again, you can guarantee that while you are out and about in a foreign place you will need to charge up at some stage, especially with a family of five! We have a Mophie Powerstation that takes care of all our charging requirements when we can’t plug into the wall.
Logitech Portable Speaker – Essential travel gear item No 4
I love the way music changes my mood! We never travel without our trusty Logitech portable speaker, waterproof and shockproof. That’s handy with three rugrats running around!
Osprey Stratos 34 Litre Day Pack – Essential travel gear item No 5
I just love my Osprey Stratos 34 litre backpack. I searched high and low for the right bag for me and this one ticked all the boxes. Check out my Osprey Stratos 34 Review here. Strong, durable and multifunctional. I can use it as a carry-on luggage on the plane, or it is ideal for a big day hike, and if you enjoy hiking light, it’s just the right size for an overnight hike in the bush!
I highly recommend AirBnB for holiday rental homes – worldwide! No matter where your holiday is taking you, you can book a holiday home through Airbnb for a similar price to that of a hotel room. It will most likely be bigger than a hotel room and more than likely have a fully functional kitchen which is great for the family! It’s quick and super easy to sign up plus as an added bonus you receive a$50 NZD discount voucher toward your first holiday when you sign up through this link.
