The best keyword research tool for the newbie blogger

Are you looking for an easy and the best keyword research tool to help you find those ever important keywords for your blog posts? Are you new to blogging and do you struggle to find and understand the various tools available?

My favourite and best keyword research tool for aspiring bloggers. An easy to understand and simple tool to make finding your keywords a breeze.

As you probably know, when you first start blogging there is a whole lotta learning to do. When I first started blogging, everyday would bring new challenges and I would overcome them when I found the right tools and guides to help me through each hurdle. Finding an easy and the best keyword research tool that suited me was no exception.

The search for the best keyword research tool

When someone starts spelling out SEO and CPC and CPA on a keyword topic I would get totally lost after the first one! (hey, at least I know the first one!)

I wanted a tool that I could understand quickly and easily. I’m not at all tech savvy and when it came to finding the best keyword research tool I was at a complete lost, let alone finding keywords that would work.

There was so much information and many recommendations on the internet sending me all over the place trying all sorts. There were loads of videos on u-tube and I spent hours and days trying to figure out the best way for me to find my keywords. It was getting frustrating and it soon became aware to me that it was going to be another whole learning curve that I would have to endure.

You don’t have to be tech savvy to get the right keywords

There are lots of different keyword research tools available now, and you don’t have to be tech savvy to make sense of the keyword search results, you just need the best keyword research tool that’s right for you. I kept putting it off at the beginning because of my lack of understanding, time constraints and frustrations.

Most keyword research tools have a free trial

Many keyword research tools have free trials where you can sign up for a free account and you receive a certain number of FREE keyword searches. I tried out a few such as KW Finder, Semrush, Google Adwords and Jaaxy.

My top pick and the easiest keyword research tool for a newbie blogger like me

After months of free trials across the various keyword research tools, I found one clear winner for me. My second best was Jaaxy and it is well worth signing up for the free accounts to test them out yourself. But I felt so strongly about my winner that I wanted to tell any potential newbie bloggers to save them the time and frustration that I experienced trying to find and understand one!

KW Finder

KW Finder is my most favourite and best keyword research tool. When you type in your suggested keyword/s, KW Finder will instantly score it and provides you a list of similar keywords, each with their own score and trending graph. It couldn’t be any simpler.

KWFinder - find long tail keywords with low SEO difficulty

Seriously, you key in your suggestion and it tells you straight away whether is going to be Easy, Possible, or Hard (to be found) and rates it from 1 to 100. One being probably top of page one google and 100 – don’t even bother.

KW Finder Keyword SEO difficulty scores and what they mean

0 – 9: effortless
10 – 19: go for it
20 – 29: easy
30 – 39: still easy
40 – 54: possible
55 – 74: hard
75 – 89: very hard
90 – 100: don’t do it

The results are even colour coded based on its score. Green, yellow, orange or red. I’m sure you can guess where the colour codes sit.

You want to aim for keywords that sit in the green or yellow scores. Then you have a very good chance of your post being found with those keywords in google search.

Similar suggestions

KW Finder provides a good list of similar keyword suggestions to yours. So if your suggestion scores too high, you simply look on the list below for something similar with a better score.

Trending graph

Each result shows a little graph beside the score that shows you the trend of that keyword over the last 12 months so you can see how it is trending.

Get two FREE keyword searches every day on a FREE account

You can trial KW Finder by joining up with a FREE account and you get two FREE keyword searches per day…forever! This is fantastic if you want to check it out first like I did. Unlike some of the other keyword research tools where you only receive a certain number of free searches then you have to pay.

You will end up seeing the immense value in KW Finder like I did and it won’t be long until you will be wanting more!

Pricing and Plans to suit all levels of bloggers and business

There are three levels to their pricing plan structure. Basic, Premium and Agency. The basic plan is sufficient for any aspiring blogger and if you pay for the annual cost up front you will receive a 44% discount (Oh I do love a good bargain, don’t you)! This works out at just $29.04 per month.

On the basic plan, your daily limits are up to 100 keyword searches, 100 Serp lookups, Serp Watcher and 200 related keywords per search.

Armed with this kind of intel and the ease of this tool, you’ll be finding your top keywords in no time!

Here is a tip for the aspiring blogger

When thinking of keywords for your post, put yourself in your target audience shoes – what would they type in if they were to search for the information you are offering?

  • I’ve never bothered with key word search tools but I can see how useful they would be (especially for free!) I’ve pinned this for future reference. Visiting from Bloggers Pit Stop.

    • Thanks Leanne! Would love to know how does it work out for you not worrying about keywords? Do you still get a good number of page views without it?
